House of Lords Debate
On Thursday 28th November, 10 students from St. Louise’s’ Senior Debating team, along with their teachers Mrs Morgan, Miss McCann and Miss McCartan, travelled to London where they represented Northern Ireland in the prestigious House of Lords Chamber Debate.
Our students and teachers spent several weeks preparing for the debate and were trained by the English Speaking Union. Our students prepared speeches which were delivered in the House of Lords Chamber on issues including sustainability, globalism and climate change. Students and teachers had a great time and were very pleased that the Chamber voted in favour of our motions!
We had the privilege of touring the House of Lords private quarters and having lunch with a number of esteemed representatives including the Lord Speaker. This truly was a once in a lifetime experience and our students had a wonderful time in London!
The students involved in the Senior Debating Team were; Aoife Nic Giolla Cheara, Kate Lynch, Catriona O’Hagan, Louise Greig, Louise Watson, Anna Mateer, Esha Razak, Alex Villadolid, Erin McCullough and Chloe Morgan.
