The Religion department embrace and value every pupil as a unique child of God, enabling them to think spirituality, ethically and theologically to meet the demands of everyday life. By the quality of our work and relationships we strive to inspire, nurture and develop in each individual student a deep understanding of their self-worth and endless potential.

Overview of KS3 Curriculum

  • The Key stage three curriculum is a 3 year thematic curriculum which merges the learning objectives of the Core Syllabus for Religious Education, school ethos and units studied for CCEA GCSE. The six topics explored are Helping Others, Life of Jesus, Ethics, Contemporary Issues, World Religions and Life of a Famous Person of Faith.
  • The Religious Education programme includes faith formation, prayer and liturgical experiences.
  • Each year of the Key Stage three curriculum builds on prior knowledge (where applicable) and includes spaced practice in all key assessments.

Overview of KS4 Curriculum

CCEA GCSE Religious Studies

Unit 5—Christianity through a study of Mark’s Gospel. The identity of Jesus, The teachings of Jesus, Kingdom of God, The Suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus and Discipleship.

Unit 6 – Christian Ethics. Personal and Family Issues, Matters of Life and Death, Bioethics, Contemporary Issues and Modern Warfare.

Year 13  

Unit 1:   An Introduction to the Gospel of Luke

Unit 7:   Foundations of Ethics with Special Reference to  Issues in Medical Ethics

Year 14  

Unit 1:   Themes in the Synoptic Gospels

Unit 7:   Global Ethics
