Welcome to the St Louise’s Comprehensive College website.  In exploring this website you will see many examples of how we achieve excellence through caring which is at the heart of our mission statement.  The staff and I are totally committed to ensuring that every pupil in St Louise’s achieves her full potential. On the website you will get a flavour of how many of our pupils are realising their dreams.

In this outstanding school, we have always rejected the unjust, selective system of education in Northern Ireland.  All our young people deserve the best quality education we can provide.  We promote the talents of all our young people.  You will see examples of outstanding academic achievement across the curriculum.  You will also see pupils develop their talents in the sporting arena.  .

In addition there are examples of the outstanding opportunities we provide in the performing arts.  Indeed we were the first school in Northern Ireland to offer “A” Level Dance and Drama.  It is wonderful to see how excellence in this area is being shared with audiences not only in the college but also throughout Northern Ireland.

We are one of the few schools in Northern Ireland which can offer the new curriculum required by Government.  At Key Stage 4 and Post 16 levels you will see the wide range of high quality general and applied courses which we offer.  It is also essential to note that all our courses are taught by highly-qualified subject specialists.  Our successful examination record bears witness to the quality of teaching and learning.

In order to support every pupil throughout her years in the school we have a most caring, compassionate pastoral care system.  Everypupil is mentored by at least one caring form teacher who is supported by a Counsellor and Head of Year in each year group.  Our parents, as equal partners, are afforded many opportunities to become involved in their daughters’ education.  This partnership is one of the greatest strengths of the school.

Recognising that all young people have different talents we provide numerous opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities.  The best way to sample the variety is to visit this section of the site. The notion of service is a cornerstone of our Vincentian school and it is inspirational to see how our young people are reaching out to their communities and the less advantaged. Another value integral to our ethos is the notion of leadership and I am very proud of the numerous examples on the website.

A visit to our website would not be complete without accessing the past pupils section where you can find former friends. Indeed this section reveals that young women from St Louise's are leaders in many different fields throughout the world.

In summary I trust that a journey around the website will help give you a flavour of the outstanding achievements of our excellent school at two levels. Firstly there are numerous examples of the ways in which our current pupils achieve excellence through caring. Since St Louise's has always been at the forefront of education in Northern Ireland, I also trust that you will be inspired by the ways in which we are planning for the future to ensure that all our pupils have the knowledge, skills and personal qualities to be leaders in today's rapidly changing society.
