St. Louise’s Comprehensive College offers NVQ Level 3 courses in Childcare Learning and Development, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

After a successful introduction of NVQ Level 2 courses in Childcare Learning and Development, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy two years ago St. Louise’s is now in a position to offer Level 3 NVQ courses.

St. Louise’s was one of the first schools in Northern Ireland to gain centre accreditation from City and Guilds in 2009. Now after two years the first cohort of students have achieved 100% pass rate in all three Level 2 courses.

The NVQ qualifications are vocational and as such the students complete a number of guided learning hours in school and undertake work in placements for the rest of their time.

There are three experienced Hairdressing and Beauty tutors within in school to deliver the courses in two fully furnished hairdressing and beauty salons that are open to the public. While the CCLD students study with teachers and a tutor as well as working in nursery and school placements within the local community.

The Childcare Learning and Development course is open to Applied Health and Social Care students as well as NVQ Level 2 CCLD students.
