Promotion of Gifted and Talented in Dance

In September 2008 Dance, as an independent subject was introduced to the Key Stage 3 curriculum. Students were auditioned in year 8, and a small group who showed enthusiasm and commitment to the subject were accepted into the year 9 Specialist Dance Programme.

The specialist class study dance as subject, in place of a second language and receive three periods per week. Over the course of the year, they have developed their skills, knowledge and understanding in the following areas: Technique, Performance, Composition and Appreciation.

This course of study is in preparation for a path of accelerated KS4 assessments which the class will begin during year 10.

These students are excelling in all aspects of their Dance Studies as a result of the specialist class, their focus, creativity and endless amounts of talent are overwhelming.

In September 2009 the Dance department look forward to welcoming the new group of year 9 to the Specialist Dance Programme.
