Outstanding Results
Saint Louise’s ComprehensiveCollege has received an outstanding Inspection Report in all areas including pastoral care, learning and teaching, specialist subjects, range and quality of courses, leadership at all levels and examination results. At GCSE level, 80% achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or higher in 2009. This is 31% higher than the Northern Ireland average for similar schools.
As a result of the outstanding Inspection Report, rigorous evaluation report and action plan for 2010-2011, the college has been successful in achieving designation, as a specialist college, for a fifth year.
Only this week the college received a certificate from ALPs (A Level Performance System) stating that for 2007-2009, based on an analysis of 1109 schools and colleges nationally, Saint Louise’s is in the top 10%. This is an outstanding achievement. Furthermore, the college is one of the few schools in Northern Ireland already offering the full range of courses under the Entitlement Framework.
Mrs McCartan paid tribute to the wonderful pupils and dedicated staff for the outstanding examination results and the Inspection Report. She also thanked the parents and community for their ongoing support. She added that ‘it is indeed a privilege to be trusted with the education of such talented young people and to play a major part in improving their life chances. At the heart of all our endeavours are warm, positive relationships based on high expectations, service, mutual respect, equality of opportunity and social justice’.
At this critical time in the future of education in West Belfast and beyond, it is a source of great pride that the young people in our community have received such public affirmation. It is also particularly gratifying to share this good news at a time when our Bishops have expressed a commitment to high quality, all-ability schools modelled on Saint Louise’s ComprehensiveCollege. The college faces the future with great confidence as a sustainable, centre of excellence.
