Membership of clubs and societies is seen as an important aspect of our students’development and all students are encouraged to join at least one. 

 

Great importance is attached to Music and Drama within the school and students of every age are given the opportunity to display their talents in the annual school productions and other events such as the Orchestral Concert, Carol Service, the Irish Night and Junior School Drama Production.

 

Travel as well as being an enjoyable experience also broadens the horizons ofstudents. Many groups leave St Louise's every year to travel in Ireland, Britain and in Europe.  In the past few years groups have visited Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Russia andFrance. Ski trips take place each year visiting different European ski resorts.



Religious Societies

The Marillac Society

Sixth form students adopt an old lady and visit her once a week.  They also organise a party for the senior citizens at Christmas time and prepare hampers.  Pupils in the Junior school also participate in all these activities.

The Mission Society

The Mission Society girls undertake projects to help people in need at home and in the Third World.


 

Art Club        

Pupils enjoy a wide range of creative activities including clay work, mask making, print making, sculpture, painting and drawing.

 

Assembly Club

This club meets weekly. They decide on issues to be presented at Assembly and prepare the Assembly for the year group.

 

Computer Club

Students are shown how to create web pages. Well-designed and interesting pages are “published” on the world wide web.

 

Dance Club

The Dance Society involves all year groups and rehearses once a week after school. At the club the girls learn dance and choreography and get theopportunity to perform their work to an outside audience at festival time.

 

Drama Club

In the Drama Club girls learn to act, mime, dance and perform their work to an audience. Each year they take part in a drama festival and all members of the drama clubs have a chance to win. Members have an opportunity to attend a two-day residential field trip.

 

Geography Club

The Geography Club involves activities such as competitions, quizzes, games, debates, map work and use of computers.

 

Greenpeace Society

The Greenpeace Society aims to promote environmental awareness through enjoyable activities such as watching videos, playing games, writing letters with an environmental message, litter collections, tree and bulb planting around the school and in the local community.

 

Home Economics Club

This is a seasonal Club: children produce craft items for Christmas and Easter.

 

Homework Club

The Homework Club meets each Wednesday after school from 3.40pm to 5.00pm.  A teacher is on hand to give guidance, direction and help in all aspects of homework and study including coursework. Computers are available to assist students in the presentation of their work or to improve their key skills. Under supervision pupils have full access to the Internet.

 

Language Clubs

French,Spanish, Italian and Irish clubs provide an ideal opportunity for students to enhance their linguistic skills and cultural knowledge. The activities include quizzes, bingo, songs, card making, food tasting,computer activities and games.

 

Maths Club

In the Maths Club students play games with strategic content including computer games. These games are specifically designed to allow students to work at their own level.

 

Movie Club

Pupils aged 11-14 can join the Movie Club and see their favourite films and film stars during lunchtime on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Moving Image Club

Pupils aged 14-16 can join the Moving Image Club. Pupils will learn how to usea camera and put their own stories onto film. This takes place on Thursdays at lunchtime.

 

Music Club: Strings of Orchestra

The strings of the orchestra, i.e. violins, violas, and cellos meet once a week at lunchtime. Only those girls learning a stringed instrument areable to join this group. Strings will join Woodwind and Brass for full orchestra.

 

Music Club: Woodwind and Brass of Orchestra

These two sections of the Orchestra meet at 1pm once a week. Only these girls learning a Woodwind instrument, i.e. flute, clarinet or bassoon, or a Brass instrument, i.e. trumpet, baritone, trombone or French Horn, are able to join these sections.  

 

Music Club: Choirs – Junior / Senior

The Junior Choir (Year 8) meets each Monday at lunchtime. All the choirs have sung at various events such as the Carol / Passion services,orchestral concerts in the Waterfront and Ulster Hall, Royal Hospital and Hillsborough Castle. 

 

The School choir (Years 9 to 14) meets on Thursdays and Fridays at lunchtime.  The girls participate in a wide variety of music, including the Religious services within the school.  Approximately 80 members take part.

 

Reading Club

This provides a quiet place for reading as well as an opportunity for anexchange of views on books and authors with others who enjoy reading.

 

Science Club

This club gives Year 8 pupils the opportunity to do some of the more enjoyable Science experiments which cannot be done in ordinary class time.

 

Senior Debating Society

The Senior Debating Society is the largest club in St Louise’s, involving all sixth form students. It meets regularly to discuss topical issues in a lively and entertaining way. Members have consistently recorded successes in inter-school public speaking competitions in recent years.

 

Technology and Design Club

Students work on a variety of practical projects. They learn how to work with arange of materials and tools. Key Stage 3 students attend a club afterschool once a week. For ‘A’ Level and GCSE students this extra time isnecessary to complete examination project work and get it to a high standard. It is also a useful time to get assistance with homework.There are a number of informal lunch-time Clubs which meet each day.

 

Video Club

Students aged 11-14 can join the Video Club. Pupils write their own scripts and make their own videos.

Camogie Club

Players train twice each week under the supervision of Antrim County Star Miss G Connolly.

 

Basketball Club

Squads train on four afternoons per week. There is an opportunity to travel all over Northern Ireland and beyond to play competitively.

 

Cross-Country Club

This is a new club, meeting once a week and preparing for competitions.

 

Football Club

Pupils train one day each week and play in league fixtures.

 

Indoor Athletics Club

From the club membership, teams are selected and entered in competitions.

 

Netball Club

Each year group has team training sessions during lunchtime and after schooleach week. Teams play in league and friendly fixtures.

 

P.E. Clubs

Every day at lunchtime a variety of sporting activities take place in the Sports Hall. The Fitness Suite is open 3 lunchtimes and 3 afternoons after school for personal training.

 

Thai Bo Club

This new club meets every Monday and Wednesday. Come along and learn to box Thai style!

 

Trampolining Club

The Club meets once a week after school and teams and individuals are entered in competitions.
